Mo&Friese Children’s Short Film Festival Jury

Thanks to sponsors GEOlino and Springer Bio-Backwerk, we can again award two prizes worth 1,250 euros each. The Friese-Award, which will be given to a film for children over four and over six years by the Friese-Children’s Jury and the Mo-Award, given to a film for children over nine and over twelve years, chosen by the Mo-Children’s Jury. The best three films of the “Gib mir fünf!” (“High five!”) Competition will also be awarded with a prize by both juries. The award ceremony is set to take place in the zeise kinos on 7th of June, beginning at 3 pm.

Friese-Children's Jury 2009

Lilli Beyer, 10 years old

"I would like to be part of the jury because I have been visiting the festival for the last years and I always enjoyed myself a lot. Ever since I have been to the festival for the first time, I wanted to be part of the jury, partly because this would allow me to watch films and talk about them with others. Furthermore, I think it is great that a film maker receives an award from children."

Ben Himmelmann, 10 years old

“I like being in the jury because I enjoy watching films and it will enable me to get to know and judge new films. I know several Mo&Friese films. My favourite one is about a train with a tender. There were animals on it, making music. I liked the music best.”

Flora Catarina Engel, 10 years old

“I applied for the children's jury because I have already seen plenty of the films of the festival and I think that I am good at judging. I made two short films and the festival's 11th trailer with my class, the 4d.”

Anton Matthäi, 9 years old

“I like films. My hobbies are football and tennis. I am in the third grade at the school Rothestraße.”

Benita Schuett, 10 years old

“I would like to be part of this year's jury for the following reasons: 1) I applied last year and was rejected. 2) I enjoy going to the cinema and I have already seen plenty of films, so I know something about the subject! 3) I would finally like to do something my five older siblings haven't done yet.”

Mo-Children's Jury 2009

Marlon Jost, 13 years old

“I think that I would be a good member of the jury because I enjoy discussing film with my friends. Furthermore, I made three films with other people: Born to be Wild, Infomercial-Spoof and Let's Sting. I gathered experience on the stage at performances at the Staatsoper and at school.”

Jacob Schamerloh, 11 years old

“I wanted to be part of the jury because I enjoy watching films and because I like stories. My favourite films are: Star Wars, Balduin and Monty Python's Flying Circus. I also like football, reading, watching films on Friday and Saturday evenings, sleeping in on weekends and music.”

Rosa Sonntag, 11 years old

“Since I am interested in film, photography and art I would be qualified to be a part of the jury. I have started making a film about smoking with my friend. I enjoy that a lot.”

Maja Lena Schellhammer, 12 years old

“I am good at formulating and criticising and analysing. I can express my thoughts well and I have an a-level in German. I would like to be a member of the jury in order to watch exciting and great films and because I would like to participate.”

Alina Anna Katharina Wäbs, 12 years old

“For relaxation, I very much enjoy watching DVDs and afterwards talking about the content of the films with my mother. This year, I had already been part of the Michel children's jury, where I was able to gather valuable experiences. It is a lot of fun to analyse. That is why I am the right one for the Mo&Friese children's jury. It gives you a different perspective on every film. Now I pay much more attention to the dubbing, the soundtrack and the locations.”
