Mo&Friese Children’s Short Film Festival Jury
37 short films from 21 countries will be shown in this year’s Mo&Friese Children’s Short Film Festival. Thanks to sponsors GEOlino and Springer Biobackwerk, we can again award two prizes worth 1,250 Euros each. The Friese-Award, which will be given to a film for children between four and eight years old by the Friese-Children’s Jury and the Mo-Award, given to a film for children between nine and fourteen years old, chosen by the Mo-Children’s Jury.
The best three films of the “Gib mir fünf!” (“High five!”) Competition will also be awarded with a prize by both juries. The award ceremony is set to take place in the zeise kinos on June 8th 2008, beginning at 3 pm. Which film will come out on top is anybody’s guess!

Joshua Raudies-Gutiérrez, 8 years old
"I think that I will be a good member of the jury because I enjoy going to the cinema so much. I also enjoy making my own videos with my mother’s camera. That’s a whole lot of fun."
Paul Gralla, 9 years old
“I am interested in joining the jury because I myself have already made two short films, called “Das Spukhaus” and “Gummibärchen und Totenkopf”. I also enjoy judging other people.”

“I think that good films are a special art form. Especially when short films tell a whole story. I like films about friendship or when they make you laugh.”

“I often get angry because of mistakes in films. I would like to explain to grown up film makers what is important to kids and how a kid would never react. I also think it is stupid when shoes, which had been dirtied by an adventure, are clean again right afterwards.”

Timon Francis Kobabe, 12 years old
“I enjoy going to the cinema. I also participate in the filmteam Hamburg in the field of filming technology, where I had also been part of the film project “Die rote Zora”. I am currently participating in a film team shooting a documentary on the Laeiszhalle. I even made my own little movie about the Hagenbeck zoo.”
Sophie Maria Gerdes, 11 years old
“I personally co-wrote a script at the film workshop, helped choosing locations and made a short film. I am taking acting classes since 2005 and I have already acted in a commercial. This gives me an insight on the amount of work necessary for a good film.”
Johannes Heldt, 13 years old
“I think that I am well prepared for being a member of the jury, since I am not only paying attention to the plot of a film, but also to camera work and music. When it all fits together well, a film can literally sweep me away.”
Lotte Zonouzi, 12 years old
“I think it is great that there are children in stead of grown ups in the jury. I am always spellbound, no matter whether the film makes me happy, sad or angry. Naturally, I not only enjoy watching films, but also talking about them.”
