Ohne das in ethnographischen Filmen dieser Zeit übliche autoritäre „Voice-Over“ nähert sich Jean Mihail dem Leben in einem Dorf und thematisiert die anstehende Agrarreform. Beim ersten Filmfestival nach Kriegsende in Cannes gewann dieser Film einen Preis in der Kategorie „Dokumentarfilm“.
