Nach Entfernung der Vokale bildete Jandl aus den Konsonanten neue Silben, die ein lautmalerisches Bild des Grabenkriegs mit Maschinengewehrsalven und Granateinschlägen und dem abschließenden Tod der Soldaten zeichnen. Ein Antikriegsfilm zu einem Antikriegsgedicht.
Visualisation of one of Ernst Jandl's first poems. The term ›Schtzngrmm‹ from the year 1957 is based on the German word for ›trench‹: ›Schützengraben‹. After removing the vowels, Jandl formed new syllables with the new remaining consonants, painting an onomatopoeic picture of trench warfare and its salvoes of firing machine guns, detonating shells and the subsequent death of soldiers. An anti-war movie based on an anti-war poem.
